The Pittsburgh Tote Project (Tote4Pgh) is a grassroots project designed to collect new and gently used tote bags to distribute to clients of the region’s food pantries. In partnership with Greater Pittsburgh Comunity Food Bank, Tote4Pgh works with community groups, existing food drives and individuals to solicit the bags. Our goals are to reduce the impact of using paper/plastic bags and to strengthen food security by ensuring people can access large or bulky items (like bottles of juice) in a manner that is dignified and practical. Our blog is used to educate the general public about the project status, but also share information related to tote bags, greening our community and hunger.
